Universe number 1 is my graduation project. I graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2007. This universe consists of different worlds—upper worlds and underworlds—that are connected by tubes.

Part of the installation is the first large-scale collage I ever created. It is a collage approximately 120 cm wide, built up from dozens of layers of landscape fragments from all over the world that come together to form a unified whole—a truly surreal landscape.
