The Mountain is a Cloud in the shape of the sky is an ongoing series of small collages which are approximately 20 to 25 cm by 15 to 20 cm.
In this series, I explore abstraction within the context of landscape. What makes a landscape recognizable as such? Which elements—such as sky, earth, and horizon—play a role in this? These collages are constructed using elements from very old landscape books, cut into fragments. I deliberately utilize negative space to play with a sense of spaciousness or, conversely, enclosure.
